Ambit CEO Named to Dallas Citizens Council Board
Entrepreneur and Civic Leader, Jere Thompson, Jr., Joins Prestigious Board
DALLAS, TEXAS (December 13, 2006) - Jere Thompson, Jr., Co-Founder and CEO of Ambit Energy, was invited to join the distinguished Dallas Citizens Council and was also elected to its Board of Directors at the Council’s 69th Annual Meeting and Luncheon, held at the Fairmont Hotel, Monday, December 4, 2006.
“I am honored that an organization long dedicated to the people and businesses of Dallas has both invited me to join and to become a member of its Board of Directors,” Mr. Thompson said. “I am looking forward to helping the Citizens Council in any way that I can.”
Mr. Thompson heads innovative retail electric provider, Ambit Energy, which serves the Texas deregulated electricity markets. Prior to Ambit, he founded CapRock Fiber Network and guided it from infancy to 1,300 employees and $300 million in annual revenues.
Mr. Thompson joins a Board with such Dallas notables as Ross Perot, Jr., former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk, Chase - Dallas Region Chairman, Elaine Agather, and Southwest Airlines CEO, Gary Kelly. The Dallas Citizens Council’s purpose is to promote a favorable business climate and a good quality of life for all Dallas citizens.
In addition to the Dallas Citizen Council, Mr. Thompson serves on the boards of Cistercian Preparatory School, Providence Christian School of Texas, St. Paul Hospital Foundation, Southwestern Medical School Foundation and the Trinity Commons Foundation. Mr. Thompson previously served on the board of the North Texas Tollway Authority for 11 years.
