DALLAS – August 17, 2011 – Ambit Energy, a national retail energy provider, announces the
company’s electricity and natural gas services are now available in two additional New York
territories – Orange & Rockland Utilities (O&R) and Central Hudson Gas & Electric. The
expansion will allow service to 620,000 customers and completes Ambit Energy’s retail
expansion plan in the state of New York.
“We are pleased to offer service to the citizens of New York state with the addition of the
Orange & Rockland Utilities and Central Hudson service territories, and reach a milestone for
our company of complete expansion in the state,” said Jere Thompson Jr., Ambit Energy cofounder
and CEO.
As one of the first companies to recognize the opportunity of retail energy deregulation in New
York, Ambit currently enrolls nearly 13 percent of all New York households switching to an
electricity service company (ESCO) in the markets where it operates.
“This expansion provides our Independent Consultants additional areas of opportunity to earn
an income helping others save on their monthly energy expenses,” said Chris Chambless,
Ambit Energy co-founder and CMO. “It also supports our continued corporate expansion efforts
to reach our goal of 1 million customers and $1 billion in annual revenue in 2012.”
As a retail energy provider, Ambit Energy buys power wholesale and resells it to retail
customers. Customers are acquired by the company’s team of more than 130,000 Independent
Consultants nationwide.
