Ambit Energy Reviews: Smart Home Systems

Home automation systems and smart home devices allow you to save time and money while making it easier to control your home devices from anywhere. It’s a growing market for new products and technology that is developing rapidly. According to CNET, within the next few years the smart home market will be worth tens of billions of dollars. Ambit Energy reviewed the top smart home systems, also known as smart home hubs, that control and connect a variety of home devices. Here are the current top four.

Samsung SmartThing Hub

The Samsung SmartThing Hub is one of the most well known. Many market experts have praised it as the best on the market at a competitive price. The new, 2nd generation SmartThing hub can connect to more than 200 devices, far more than other hubs. It even has a battery backup for when the power goes out.

The Samsung SmartThing hub is a great choice for first-time home automation system users because it is easy to set up and use. It’s also customizable to your home, allowing you to create different automation actions for your home devices, giving you greater control.

Amazon Echo

Another great home automation system is the Amazon Echo. The Amazon Echo is a Bluetooth speaker controlled by Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa. By using your voice, you can control most of the devices in your house including lights, fans, switches, thermostats, garage doors, sprinklers and locks. The Amazon Echo can also answer questions, report the weather and traffic, read audiobooks and much more.

If you’re looking for a really inexpensive option, check out the Amazon Echo Dot. It’s only $50, making it half the price of most smart home hubs. The Echo Dot is also controlled by Alexa, and you can connect it to a speaker at home for audio capabilities through Bluetooth or a 3.5 mm stereo cable.

Google Home

Google Home is very similar to the Amazon Echo with a built-in speaker, voice command and the ability to control home devices. The difference is you can search for everything and anything through Google’s Assistant. With Google Home, you can control such home devices as lights, smart plugs, switch controls, thermostats and apps like If This Then That (IFTTT). At $129, the Google Home is a great option if you also want the ability to voice search on top of managing and controlling your smart home devices.

Wink Hub 2

Last but not least, the Wink Hub 2 is the second generation hub created by Wink. It works with a wide range of smart home devices. Compared to its previous model, it has an even more powerful processor, eight times the amount of memory, five GHz Wi-Fi, and an ethernet port. It can support Bluetooth LE, ZigBee, Z-Wave, Kidde and Lutron Clear Connect and can also be controlled by Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home. This smart home system is also another great choice for first-time users of smart home systems because of its ease of use.

Hopefully, these smart home systems can help simplify your home and save you time and money! Check out other home automation tools we’ve reviewed here.
