Security Tips: Be Smart & Safe with Personal Information | Ambit Energy

Protecting your personal information is a major concern for everyone today, including our Consultants and Customers. At Ambit Energy, we want to help you keep your private information just that—private. We do everything we can to keep your information secure, and we don’t share that data with anyone. Here are a few steps you can take to make sure you’re safe and secure online and over the phone—whether you’re interacting with Ambit or anyone else.
- Beware of “phishing” emails or phone calls: If someone asks for your payment information in a phone call or an email, don’t give it to them. To be safe, make payments or updates to your account using our secure web site or by calling our Customer Care line.
- Misspelling and bad grammar: Ambit and other reputable companies invest the time and effort to communicate with you in a respectful, professional manner. Poorly written emails are often the sign of a scam.
- Links in the email: When you see a link in an email, roll your mouse over the link to see if the address matches the link typed in the message. Beware of .exe files, which often contain viruses or other harmful software. Real Ambit links will always include the domain ambitenergy.com. If you are unsure about a link, you can always go directly to ambitenergy.com and connect to any page directly from our Home Page.
- Unfamiliar email addresses: Emails from Ambit will usually have the email@example.com address. Any email claiming to be from Ambit that does not come from this address is suspicious. The same rule applies to emails from Consultants or Customers. If you recognize the name but not the email address, follow-up by contacting that person at the email you know.
If you receive a suspicious phone call or email, please report it to Ambit Energy Customer Care at (877) 282-6248 or firstname.lastname@example.org. By working together, we can reduce the risk of fraud for all of us.
